Questions for Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there! I am so happy to be spending Mother’s Day with my mom. Being with my mom has always been so important to me, sometimes I would meet my parents half way between college and school to grab dinner! I am excited to be celebrating Mother’s Day without all of the stress of finals, and summer internships!

Today I’m sharing some table topics for your mom!

  • What is your favotite thing about being a Mom?

  • What do you feel was a mistake you made as a Mom?

  • What “Moms” did you look to for advice?

  • What has been your favorite stage of Motherhood?

  • What has been your greatest joy of being a Mom?

  • What advice would you give today to a new Mom?

  • What part of you do you see in your kids?

  • What has been the hardest phase of Motherhood?

  • Is there anything you wish you had learned from your Mom?

My first two weeks on the job

UTSW
In case you didn’t see my overly excited social media posts last week, I began my job with UT Southwestern Medical Center as a Marketing Coordinator. Since sophomore year of college, it has been my dream to be working in healthcare, and I am praising the Lord for the opportunity to work at one of the most incredible healthcare institutions in the country!
Since it’s only the second week, I still have lots to figure out and learn about my role! February began Heart Month, so all of my time so far has been working on the stories and content we are sharing each day! It has been such a fun project to start on, and be able to so people practically instantly what I’m getting to work on at the office! I’m also getting to learn a lot throughout the process, especially a lot of medical terms! I feel like I’m in med school! (Without all of the pressure of making good grades on exams!)
This is also the 75th anniversary of the UT Southwestern Hospital so a lot of the projects I work on this year will revolve around that celebration! Stay tuned for updates on what happens!
Since it’s been two weeks, I have begun to settle into a routine and figure out what will work best for me. I wake up at 5 each day. I spend 30 minutes doing Bible study and then I get ready for the day. I don’t pick out my outfits the night before, which I really thought I would do. I do try to think about what I’m going to wear throughout the week on Sunday though so I’m more prepared! We have a nice business casual environment, so I plan on just rotating through pants and tops and sprinkling dresses in every once in a while!
I eat breakfast at 6:20, and leave the house by 6:55 at the latest. This puts me arriving to work between 7:45 and 8, where I begin my office day! I leave at 4:30 most days and am back home by 5:30. The hour commute is my least favorite thing about the job, but it won’t last forever! (And the job totally outweighs the commute!) As for now, it’s really special time that I’m getting to spend with my mom and dad!
Do you have any tips for starting a new job?

Worn This Week

This was my second week of interning for St. Jude ALSAC! I am officially settled into my routine and have learned my way around! I’m going out for my hospital tour certification this week! Wish me luck!

We had our intern orientation on Tuesday and I got to meet a lot of other interns, there are even a few from Texas! It was fun to learn everyone’s backgrounds and my roomie and I made fast friends with several other girls!

My favorite day at the office was Wednesday! Benihana sponsored a sushi making party for the patients and provided them aprons and chef hats! They were all so cute making veggie and candy sushi- it looked pretty good too! Then we got an exclusive tour of the Peabody Hotel to learn evacuation route and procedures for upcoming events!

relocating-to-memphis-tn-7-ways-to-fit-in-with-your-new-neighbors-1

Hello World! Where have I been??? Well somewhere between taking finals, moving out of my house in College Station, moving home for two days, moving to Memphis, living out of a Airbnb for a week while starting my summer internship with St. Jude ALSAC, then finally moving into my summer apartment, blogging didn’t happen…

But I am officially settled with one week of work under my belt! A great apartment with a view of the Mississippi River! And discovering my way around my new city! I’m so excited for this summer experience and can’t wait to share all of my adventures  and excursions here!

So what can you expect from me this summer??? I’ll be sharing an apartment tour in the coming weeks of how I made a furnished rental feel like home, ‘What I wore this week’ posts of my office outfits- I’m not sure if this will replace Fashion Friday for summer or not… depends if I find someone to take photos! And reviews of activities and food I find here in Memphis!

Have you ever been to Memphis? Is there anything you recommend I do?

From the Book Shelf

In 2016, I committed to reading 24 books a year, so an average of 2 books a month. I am so happy to say I exceeded that goal by 11 books! This was the first year in college that I really carved out time to read and I enjoyed life so much more because of it!!!

The Goodreads challenge really help me accountable to making sure I read and head of a lot of great books that way! You can find my mid-way post on the reading challenge here. I finished out the year with 20 more books than I had read in July. I also used a site called BookBub. Please tell me you have seen this all over your Pinterest board! Well I succumbed finally and I am so happy! It sends you an email every day (I filter mine through Unroll.me, post here) and it tells you what books are currently being offered for $3 and under- some are even free- as well as where you can get the books, Apple Books, Kindle, Nook, etc.

Some of my favorite books are below:

I love faux fur! (And incidentally, people love seeing and toughing people who wear faux fur!) Faux Fur is always eye catching and chic! People love to marvel in it’s elegance! I love how versatile a faux fur vest can be!

You can wear one like I have paired here with a long sleeve tee and and jeans, you can throw some sparkly sequins underneath, or you can layer it with a long sleeve dress. This last one is one of my favorites because it can be a casual knit dress for a night out with girls, or a fancier shift dress for a night out for a show or a date.

This is the perfect season to wear a faux fur vest! I usually break mine out around Thanksgiving and wear it all the way to the beginning of March! (Well if the weather permits!)

Dress: Sold Out (Similar HereHere and Here) | Shoes: Similar Here, Here, and Here

Yay! I am so excited to be starting this new segment of the blog! I am planning on posting Fashion Fridays a couple times a month, a long with my other stuff! I love this green dress! I saw a fashion blogger post about it a couple months back and I knew it would  be the perfect outfit to my cousin’s wedding!

I especially love the midi length of the dress! It makes a subtle statement, and as my momma likes to tell me every time we go shopping ~ skirt lengths are dropping. I paired it with simple jewelry, but it also looks really good with a big monogram necklace!

My shoes are Vera Wang and were such a steal! My mom was shopping last year and snapped a pic to send to me and I immediately went out and got them! The store was having a one day sale, but honestly they would have been worth any price because I am able to wear them so much with different outfits! I love pairing them with jeans rolled up for a casual ‘Girl’s Night Out’ look. (I even got them in black for Christmas I loved them so much!
